Iwona Olszowska – dancer, choreographer, teacher of contemporary dance technique, body awareness contact improvisation and improvisation as performance. Certificated Somatic Movement Educator (method based on the influence of Body Mind Centering). Artistic director of Experimental Dance Studio EST in Krakow, Poland. She teaches dance at Hurtownia Ruchu Dance Studio and at the State School of Theater Arts in Krakow, as well as in Bytom at the Faculty of Dance Theater Acting, at the University of Rzeszow and gives master classes and workshops in Poland and abroad (Ukraine, UK, Russia).
She got training in dance studios in New York and in classes of the University Alabama, George Mason University/Washington, and the University of Calgary (Canada). She took workshops organized by the Silesian Dance Theater and the Center of Culture Animation, and performed during numerous dance festivals in Poland.
Currently Iwona creates her own choreographies – solo works and group compositions (for the Polish Dance Theater) and works on theater performances (at the Rozmaitości Theater in Warsaw and Old Theater and the Słowacki Theater in Krakow, among others). She has performed in the USA, Canada, Finland, Russia, the UK, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Moldavia and Poland. She got numerous prizes for her choreographies and a special award for for developing own style and stage personality. She also received a scholarship of the Batory Foundation (Arts Link) in New York.
